Camp Tel Yehudah, the three-week summer I’ve been looking forward to since I was a camper at Camp Young Judaea Midwest has finally happened! Before I left for camp I had no expectations, no idea what I was getting myself into, and no clue as to whether I would enjoy it. With a summer full of surprises and memories that will last a lifetime, I’m glad I was able to come in with no reservations.

Here at camp, I have made friends from all around the world, learned games from my Z’man Bechira (Speciality Choice), slang from the U.K., and improved my Hebrew. My time spent in Alumim has been a summer of countlessPeulot (Activities) with one underlying focus, shaping my Jewish identity. There was one peulah that I remember specifically that helped us understand different interpretations of the Jewish people – whether we are truly the chosen people or not – and exposed the many different opinions people share at Tel Yehudah. At camp, I played sports, learned about Judaism, prayed, sang Israeli songs, and had an overall great time.
