This Thanksgiving, Act Now Against Hunger
This week, while you’re thinking about everything you’re thankful for, our Alternative Summer Break (ASB) partner Repair the World has even more for you to reflect upon. Through the Thanksgiving program,
Act Now Against Hunger, you can transform your table into a place of generous learning, listening, and action.
Did you know that in the US, $218 billion is spent each year to grow, process, transport, and dispose of food that is not eaten? At the same time, 1 in 7 Americans still go hungry. Repair the World wants to help you start critical conversations about food insecurity and hunger as you sit at tables lined with friends and family, loaded with platters of food.
The campaign includes three free, downloadable discussion guides and DIY resources to root your discussion of food insecurity in Jewish values and foster a brave space for people to meaningfully engage with each other’s experiences and ideas.
- > Bring Generosity to a Tough Table Foster a generous and open conversation in a tense or divisive space.
- > Addressing Hunger Together Discuss root causes and strategies through traditional and modern food justice texts.
- > A Plateful of Grateful Untangle the impact of food waste and hunger.
Act Now Against Hunger is a great way to strengthen the commitment to social responsibility and social change that we foster at Tel Yehudah through leadership opportunities, our Hadracha Activism Institute, and our ASB program, a two-week social action intensive.
Join the #ActNowAgainstHunger campaign and bring together friends and family to engage in critical conversations about hunger. Visit Repair the World on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Tel Yehudah!
