Adopt an Israeli Camper Campaign

In the wake of the heart-wrenching challenges that befell Moshav Netiv Ha’Asara on October 7th, 2023, we are embarking on a transformative journey to uplift the spirits of its youth, build resilience, and forge enduring bonds with American Jewish teens. Spearheaded by the founders of this initiative—Zeevik Shafrir, Rami Carmel, and Jack Mausovicius—we’re embarking on an endeavor that will profoundly impact the lives of Jewish teens from Israel and the United States.

This summer, we are arranging for life-changing experiences for twenty-one 10th graders from Netiv Ha’Asara to join 300 Jewish teens at Camp Tel Yehudah, the national teen camp of Young Judaea, the oldest Zionist youth movement in the United States.

Nestled along the picturesque banks of the Delaware River in Barryville, New York, Tel Yehudah attracts campers and staff from various corners of the globe, including the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, and beyond.

Join us in adopting a camper from Netiv Ha’Asara by making a $3600 donation today.

About Netiv Ha’Asara

Netiv Ha’Asara, established in 1973 in the Sinai Peninsula and relocated to the Negev after the Peace Agreement with Egypt in 1982, has been no stranger to adversity, facing persistent threats of rockets and terror attacks.

The unprecedented events of October 7th, 2023, inflicted profound devastation, claiming the lives of 20 beloved residents and leaving behind a trail of sorrow and destruction. In a show of solidarity, the entire community, comprising approximately 1,000 residents, including 320 youths, was evacuated to different locations across the country.

The Initiative

As part of our overarching mission, we invite you to participate in our “Adopt a Camper” initiative.

By contributing $3,600, you can directly sponsor one tenth-grade student from Moshav Netiv Ha’Asara to partake in the enriching two-week experience at Tel Yehudah this summer along with trips to Washington DC, New York City, and rafting on the Delaware River. We will also be bringing group leaders and a mental health professional from Israel.

The “Adopt a Camper” initiative presents a unique opportunity to profoundly impact the life of a teenager from Moshav Netiv Ha’Asara. Your generous support ensures their participation in a two-week camp experience, fostering fortitude, nurturing connections, and offering a well-deserved respite from their tribulations. Through immersive bonding and educational experiences tailored for this age group, our aim is to fortify community cohesion. Strengthening the ties among campers, their families, and peers can serve as a cornerstone in preserving community unity in the face of adversity.

*Please note that the total cost to bring each teen to Camp Tel Yehudah, with flights, staff, mental health support, pre-camp meetings, etc., is over $8,000. Through generous funding, we only need $3600 per teen to make this initiative a reality.

How to Adopt a Camper

You can directly sponsor a camper or contribute to the fund by clicking here or by sending a check to Camp Tel Yehudah, 575 8th Avenue, 11th Floor, New York 10018. (Please reach out to us directly if you prefer to wire funds.) Your contribution is 100% tax-deductible in the United States.
